Wellbeing Support Worker - Hexham

Hexham, Northumberland, United Kingdom

Do you have the passion to give something back to the people living in your community? Or, maybe you’re looking for a new career opportunity?

If so, BelleVie, an award-winning home care provider, is looking for you.

We work with wonderful individuals throughout Northumberland, all of whom have tales to tell and stories to share. They also have plans to make, and people to see, but they need a little help and support in doing so.

As a BelleVie Wellbeing Support Worker, you could be Dot's helping hand, Joan's shoulder to lean on, or Maureen's bus buddy. In return, you'll meet new people, form firm friendships, probably go on a fair few day trips - and be in no doubt that the work you do is both valued and vital.

We offer our services so that these people can lead the lives they love in the comfort of their own homes and get the support they need to live life their way. You'll learn new skills on the job, hone your decision-making and team-leadership capabilities, and take the first rewarding steps on a new career path - if that is the direction you’d like to take.

We'll provide you with the necessary training, advice, understanding, and empathy to succeed in your role, and, if you want to get a qualification, we'll pay to put you through your NVQ to give you the relevant experience.

We have teams of Wellbeing Support Workers supporting people  in Blyth, Morpeth, Whitley Bay, Hexham and Ponteland. Teams are in charge of making sure their visits are covered when team members are on holidays, or on sick leave. To help alleviate the cover pressure so that every team member can have a good work-life balance, we are looking for a Wellbeing Support Worker who will work flexibly across the Blyth and Morpeth teams in the North East (and occasionally Hexham and Ponteland), to help cover planned leave (mainly holidays, scheduled in advance).

If you like meeting lots of different people (both colleagues and people we support), you are not phased by driving (and actually enjoy listening to music or podcasts while on the road!), and have flexibility in the week, this role is for you!

Why BelleVie?

Like other home care providers, we offer help around the home, personal care, as well as transportation, companionship, and plenty besides!

But that’s where the similarities with other providers ends. The best way for you to find out how, is to have a chat. But, to give you an idea of what we’re about, here are a few of our favourite points of difference:

  • We don't have a boss. Our close-knit care teams are fully self-managed, meaning you get to make your own decisions but have the backing of peers.

  • We pay well. We pay for all of the hours you're working - not just the hours you spend in someone's home.

  • We will help you get qualified. We’ll help you train towards your NVQ if you want to grow your skill sets in care.

  • We're fun!

The person we are looking for:

  • Shares our values

  • Thrives on variety in their day to day work and isn’t phased by frequent change.

  • Has flexibility in their own schedule, and could provide cover any day of the week.

  • Is proactive, and will contact teams to discuss their cover needs well in advance.

  • Works together with the leadership team, by giving and receiving feedback, to continuously improve our tools and scheduling capability.

Conditions:

  • Guaranteed hours, either 26.5h/week (approx. 5 shifts of 5h + 1.5h team meeting) or 31.5/week (approx. 6 shifts of 5h + 1.5h team meeting) or 36.5/week (approx. 7 shifts of 5h + 1.5h team meeting). Paid overtime when going above the contracted hours.

  • Hourly rate of £11.30 for time spent in visits, and £10.50 for everything else (including training and travel between visits).

  • 45p/mile to and from home, and between visits.

  • Work your 5h shifts flexibly in the week (including week-ends), with two days off every week. No obligation to pick up last minute cover needs.

  • 30 days pro-rata annual leave + day off on your birthday

This cover role will be a 6 month pilot. If after those 6 months, this new role doesn’t bring the expected results (happier and more productive teams), this role will be transferred to a regular Wellbeing Support Worker role within the closest team.

Applicants need to have a driving licence, and will ideally be located within the Blyth/Morpeth area.
